Text analytics is not always enough in order to get the full story around brands on social media. More and more people use images and video to share their point of view and feedback; sometimes combined with text in which case part of the post is analysed, and sometimes without any text in which case text based harvesting and analytics is actually inadequate.  

In response to the fact that posting visual and audio content is becoming an increasingly popular activity on social media, particularly with platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, a deep learning approach can be used to detect themes and context within images posted online, while speech to text technology can be used to turn audio into text so that the existing text analytics platforms can deal with it.
